2006 Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
This classic Russian River Valley Pinot Noir exhibits all the vibrant youth and incredible Pinot complexity of our past vintages! It shows a lovely bright ruby color, and its' aromas are those of bright and deep plum and cherry with a hint of smoke.
The flavor echos nose with great mid-body and rich extracted finish.

Our Slusser Road vineyard is planted to two selections of Dijon Pinot Noir clones - 667 and 115. The vines are planted on 101-14 rootstock. Soils are sandy loam, and the vigor is low to moderate. We drop crop (or ‘thin’) for even ripening. Our yield in 2006 was 3.88 tons per acre. We picked the fruit at night on September 27th.

The grapes were gently destemmed while still cold, fermented with indigenous yeast, and pressed manually after 16 days of skin contact. Fifty percent new and 50% one-year-old French Oak barrels were used to age the Pinot for eight months, with monthly battonage. Then, in July 2007 the wine was racked, blended and returned to barrel for an additional month prior to bottling. To add depth and complexity, 12% of this blend comes from Pinot grown on our Home Ranch (the primary component of our Elias Pinot Noir).
