The Vineyard
Our Slusser Road vineyard is planted to two selections of Dijon Pinot Noir clones - 667 and 115. The vines are planted on 101-14 rootstock. Soils are sandy loam, and the vigor is low to moderate. We drop crop (or ‘thin’) for even ripening. Our yield in 2006 was 3.88 tons per acre. We picked the fruit at night on September 27th.

Vintage Notes
The grapes were gently destemmed while still cold, fermented with indigenous yeast, and pressed manually after 16 days of skin contact. Fifty percent new and 50% one-year-old French Oak barrels were used to age the Pinot for eight months, with monthly battonage. Then, in July 2007 the wine was racked, blended and returned to barrel for an additional month prior to bottling. To add depth and complexity, 12% of this blend comes from Pinot grown on our Home Ranch (the primary component of our Elias Pinot Noir).
