The Vineyard
Hanna's Bismark Mountain vineyard, located in the Mayacamas Mountains is the source for this wine. 2 & 3/4 acres were planted in 1993, with 9x4 spacing on very rocky ground. In 2000, we grafted an additional 2676 vines (3.99 acres) to Zinfandel as well as 350 vines to Petit Sirah. We picked this Zinfandel on September 23 at an average of 30.4 brix.

Vintage Notes
The grapes were divided into two tanks, one of which was inoculated with a Syrah yeast strain and the other without inoculation. The juice was pressed to near dryness and then racked with light less to new thin stave American oak barrels from Canton and Seguin Moreau. After 12 months, the wine was racked to 80% new French and European oak from Boussuet, Sequin Moreau and Saury. After a year in these barrels, it was bottled unfiltered.
