The fruit for this Syrah comes from Hanna’s Bismark Mountain, located in the Mayacamas Mountains. Two blocks are planted to Syrah. Block 22 sits at the vineyards highest point, while block 12 is in a more protected ravine just below. Together they make 4.2 acres. Both blocks were planted in 1993 on a vertical trellis with 9 by 4 spacing. 1999 was a more moderate year than 1998 giving us ample ripening time at Bismark.

The grapes were crushed, cold soaked and inoculated, then pressed before dryness. The wine was aged in 10% new tight grain burgundy barrels and 90% in once used Burgundy barrels. This Syrah was left unfined, and filtered once prior to bottling.
